80/20 Rule

80/20 Rule

THE 80/20 NOURISHMENT RULES

PLAN FOR EATING

This plan is all about restoring balance in our lives where food is concerned.  We live in a culture that tells us what we “should” do but does not give us the tools and techniques to accomplish it.

We are forced to choose between two extremes….Eat to Live or….Live to Eat.  Neither one creates balance in our lives and balance is what we should strive for.  We diet and deprive ourselves for months and then gorge ourselves when we can’t take the rules or boredom anymore!

That is no way to live.

Nourishment Rules are rules that free us to enjoy real food again and restore balance that is life-sustaining so that from week to week, we can maximize our nourishment without sacrificing flavor and enjoy that “must have” guilty-pleasure meal once in a while (but no more than 4 times each week!)

LET’S GET STARTED:

EVERY 7 DAYS ON AVERAGE, WE EAT 21 MEALS, SO:

80% OF 21 MEALS IS:  17 MEALS

20% OF 21 MEALS IS:  4 MEALS

THE 80/20 PLAN IS SIMPLE TO LEARN AND EASY TO FOLLOW:

80% OF THE TIME: Prepare Nourishing Meals And Eat At Home

80% OF THE TIME: Make Vegetables The Dominant Part Of The Meal

80% OF THE TIME: Drink Pure Water To Replenish, Renew And Refresh

80% OF THE TIME: Avoid Processed, Packaged And Fast Foods

80% OF THE TIME: Snack on Raw Nuts, Seeds and Fresh Fruit

80% OF THE TIME: Sit Down With Family Or Friends And Turn Off Distractions

80% OF THE TIME: Chew Your Food Carefully, Slowly, Deliberately

80% OF THE TIME: Express Gratitude For the Abundance At Your Table

20% OF THE TIME: Break The Rules And Eat What You Want!

*EXTRA CARE TIP:  TRY TO SPREAD OUT YOUR 20% OVER THE WEEK RATHER THAN ON BACK TO BACK MEALS.  YOUR DIGESTION WILL THANK YOU FOR IT!

Oath to Self

Oath to Self

I matter. I am a precious child of God who has plans for my life that I am only beginning to glimpse.

I am here, in this life, at this time for a purpose. I am here to live, to love and to contribute.

I am a spiritual being on earth enveloped in human form and my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

I must protect, preserve and defend this temple which is a precious gift to me from my heavenly Father.

My body is vitally needed if I am to accomplish the purpose and the promise of my life here on this earth.

I thank God every day for my health and the chance to participate in his Kingdom building in whatever capacity He chooses for me.

I will remain open to his gentle whispers and nudging through his Holy Spirit who will guide me in the ways that will give my life clarity and purpose and result in joyful living.

I will remain patient and persistent as his purpose is unfolded over days, weeks, months and years so that “thy will be done.” (Matthew 6:10)

I understand that I create my blood every day from the raw materials I feed myself and I will attend to making superior food choices 80% of the time so that my blood and therefore, my body is bathed in nourishment that is sustaining and life-enhancing.

I will choose God-made foods that HE designed for my protection and pleasure over Man-made food-like substitutes, fast-foods and preserved foods that are designed to make me crave them more and can lead to depression, constipation, disease and a desire to disengage from my life.

I know that I will need stamina, strength and endurance to pursue God’s vision for my life and so I will commit to moving my body through dance, aerobics, walking or whatever form lifts my spirit promoting health and healing while preventing sluggishness and lethargy.

I remain energized, enthusiastic and engaged in my life, with all its trials and challenges as I await further instruction for my life from the Father who breathed life into me.

Amen.
